I saw the Last Jedi tonight and in retrospect it’s the perfect title for this film because I can honestly say that the takeaway for me is I can live without seeing another Star Wars movie ever again.
To say that it was bad would be giving it a lot more credit than it deserves because it was so incredibly horrible it beggars the imagination. You can’t spend this much money, leave people with such breathless anticipation only to disappoint without it being one of those things that goes down in history as an epic fail but since Star Wars does things on an epic level it was only a matter of time before they had an epic failure.
Even George Lucas’ second go rounds as bad as they might have been had something redeeming about them, here... really nothing.
Do we want to talk about a movie that could have been an hour shorter? Do we want to talk about too many characters given screentime when they don’t really need to have such a focus on them? How about a plot that’s just plodding? I mean this was a car wreck.
The best analogy I could think of is that imagine someone made a really bad multi million dollar Star Wars fan film and there you have it.
I don’t care about any of these characters at all. The big villain?
I said this not too long ago but it’s obvious that the last Jedi had an impact on me (like sucking on a lemon) because I started drafts about it two times.
Again, time to start working on that Princess Leia trilogy!
